I am confused. Does the GPS 10 route from contacts? I know the M5 does. I thought the difference was that the G10 doesn't save the location in the data base. I have seen other references to the GPS 10 and cfQue not routing from contacts.

That's true Stairman. M5 connects the location with the contact.

cfQue/GPS 10 create a waypoint. You can in fact, and I have done this, have more than 1 waypoint for the same address in opposite ends of the country. Delete the address and the waypoints remain.

This is different to selecting the address in the contact list and tapping it and routing to it's location stored in the contact, exactly as the iQue does it. On the cfQue/GPS 10 you route to the contact by selecting the waypoint. Not so bad maybe and certainly not difficult. The problem really hits home when you sync the contact records. The location does not go with them. Again, not so bad if you have a few addresses but build up the list and the recovery process becomes a real pain in the butt.

Does it make a waypoint for every contact I route to? If it finds the address reasonably reliably and quickly I would just as soon not have it clutter up the waypoint list.

Yes. That's why if you were to change the address in the contact record and create a new waypoint using the address search you'll have a second waypoint created.

Now I understand what you guys are complaining about.

The M5 can do this like the iQue does.

Stairman,

The attached screenshot shows a contact I added to the contact database. I edited the address twice and added a waypoint to it. It did a database search each time. You can't add the waypoint unless you enter part or all of an address.

This screenshot shows (marked in red) the two waypoints I added to each address change in the contact record. As you can see, there are two waypoints for the same contact. At the time I did this screenshot I deleted the contact record. As you can see the waypoints remain and there is no 'glue' that binds the contact and waypoint together. As you can see, it's better than nothing, but nothing ir only marginally less than the usable state of what Garmin gave us.
