Upgrade Questions

1) Does the upgrade modify the internal Machine ID. I have tons of software, much of it shareware that is registered based on the internal Machine ID (eg ProjXpert). Also, I've had issues moving Route Planner and Sheet to different machines, and heaven knows where my original disks are.

2) I've checked eBay and found someone selling a 'Personality Module'.
Does this need to be plugged where I had originally added 16mb additional
memory, thereby leaving the machine with only 16mB, or does it include memory. In a nutshell, what's the maximum internal memory I can achieve using whatever's in the market place?

3) What is the difference between the OS installed from the CF and the
Personality Module? What do they each do?

1. No, the Machine ID stays the same.

2. Have a search on these forums for discussion about this, but what I recall is: The 16Mb memory expansion does not work with the Netbook (personality module), but the larger (32Mb?) expansion does. You should replace the Series7's existing personality module with the new Netbook one, which can be found on the other side.

3. The Netbook personality module lacks the ROM of the Series7 module, and replaces it with RAM instead. Therefore there is no OS on the Netbook personality module (unlike for the Series7), and it must be loaded into the RAM.
