Is there anyway to read a pdf file (well to put a pdf file) on my T3 without paying $50 to upgrade to docs to go premium?

SoS 02-27-2005, 02:54 PM adobe reader for palm is free but has some problems. Ryetee 02-28-2005, 01:39 AM I'm using Abode Reader v 3.05 and have found it to be very good. I don't need spreadsheets so I use Wordsmith. The combination of those two prgrams saves an awful lot of space compared with Docs to Go. martinr 02-28-2005, 05:48 AM Agreed - the palm adobe reader - available from the adobe website is ok - just don't expect any bells and whistles... Just thinking back a few years when my psion 5mx could create and read native pdf files... why can't my t3.... How do I get adobe to see the file? Does it need to be on the internal memory? If so how do I get it there? Thanks again :) martinr 03-01-2005, 04:32 AM You need to transfer .pdf files using the desktop utility on your pc, to convert them to a readable format for use on the palm. Sadly the palm application cannot read native pdf. (i refer back to my memories of native pdf support on a humble 5mx) Hint - if you open then pdf on your desktop, then there may be a tool bar button to "send to palm" bdb 03-01-2005, 09:48 AM I too wish that you could use native PDF's on the palm. However, another option which I highly recommend is Repligo ($29.95) which in my opinion does a great job of retaining original PDF document format but also allows for easy reading. Pro - Great job of reading PDFs (and any document you can print) - much better than Adobe which you still have to format for the Palm. Con - isn't free (although 14 day trial is) I think you'll be hooked in 14 days -- I was! http://www.cerience.com/viewers/pc.php Brian Ryetee 03-01-2005, 10:04 AM I have had no problems with Adobe for Palm loaded on my 1 gigabyte SD card: it automatically recognises all .pdf files - which I load to the card, anyway. Works like a charm. martinr 03-01-2005, 11:49 AM Originally posted by Ryetee I have had no problems with Adobe for Palm loaded on my 1 gigabyte SD card: it automatically recognises all .pdf files - which I load to the card, anyway. Sorry, are you saying that you have achieved native .pdf support by having the reading and the .pdf files on the sd card at_524 03-01-2005, 04:06 PM Ok thanks for that :) However when I try to convert the pdf I get this error: "Error converting to tagged PDF: Could not update object structure. [2]" Grrr not having much luck this week lol btw the file is a pdf magazine and has animations in, could this be the cause? Thanks. martinr 03-02-2005, 04:11 AM I think that animations might fall under the bells and whistles that you don't get on the palm version. I have had problems converting more complex pdf documents using this, but I have DTG premium, and that works ok (although you still wouldn't get the animations) Ryetee 03-02-2005, 09:43 AM I think martinr is correct - that the animation feature is not included in the Palm version...which is really a "stripped down" version. I have had a look at the program as it stands on my handheld and animation is certainly not a feature. at_524 03-02-2005, 07:07 PM Thanks for confirming that. Is there any way to strip all the animations before conversion? PDA Street
