Hi all:

Of course I don't know much about PDA, so how the heck am I suppose to ask intelligent questions, or start intelligent discussion threads.

I am part of a govermnment coordination team that helps move along service delivery of weather information through the Internet, e-mail and telephone channels. WAP and PDA (PocketPC) are now next on the list and I do not hold enough information to make a move right now.

I got my chief a Blackberry R7290. I figure he's good to check WAP services plus he really needs to stay connected with the office for e-mail and have a phone connection. I on the other hand don't need e-mail(my department doesn't support PDA's VPN services) Too bad.

My delimma is which PDA to choose. Dell or HP? I would like to have the Windows functions of Microsoft "light applications such as Word Powerpoit..." Are Pocket PCs the way to go? What I don't understand, does a Blackberry offer the same web functionalities as a PDA when it comes to graphics, video streaming ect...

As a starter I think I have said enough.

Anyone care to comment?Any suggestions?

About the blackberry vs. pocketpc isssue, there's some discussion and information in this thread:

Generally Blackberry is a great communication device either by phone or internet, but it does not have much of other capabilities compare to Pocketpc. It can't play movie or music. If you need Word and Powerpoint, Pocketpc is a better choice.

As for which brand, what is your budget? Dell is less expensive and will give you more value for what you pay. But some HP's iPAQ model will give you other features such as larger screen and better battery time.
