I have a 665C and love it. However, when I place it in the cradle, it poweres off according to the time interval specified in the Preferences/General settings. It does this despite the fact that I have checked the "Stay On In Cradle" option. I have done soft resets, and hard resets (as suggested by Sony). The only time the Stay On seems to work is immediately after a hard reset and before I have performed a sync. As so as I do perform a sync, and my backed up apps an info get put on the unit, I'm back at square one. I'm going to guess that it's some type of conflict with an application, but I've removed and then tried to re-install one at a time. I was not able to define a specific one that might be causing the problem. Here's what I'm running that did not ship with the unit: Adobe Reader V2.0, Big Clock V2.83, CSpotRun V 1.2.4, HomeLoan V1.8, Mapopolis V2.0, Desktop to Go V 5.1. Any ideas?

Try deleting the Palm password in Security.

Aaaaaah Haaaaaa! That makes sense now. Apparentnly if you have a password set, the OS assumes that you want security to kick in at the power off timeout regardless of whether or not the unit is sitting the cradle. That way, "secure" info isn't sitting open on your desk for the world to see while you're at lunch.
It would be nice if that info was somewhere in the documentation, online help, or if the support techs I spoke with last week knew about it.
Thanks for your help!

I'm glad it worked.
No password makes it a little less secure. You shouldn't keep really confidential info, like SSN and credit card numbers, on it anyway without an encryption program. Even with a password, data is transferred as plain text(!) during HotSync!
I'm a cheapskate - I use YAPS and TopSecret Mobile. Both are free, 128-bit encryption programs. YAPS is a simple database with 5 fields (a bit like AddressBook). TopSecret is a bit like Notepad.

You anticipated my next question. I keep a pretty extensive list of usernames, logins, etc. as Outlook Notes, which transfers into Noepad on the Clie. In order to keep these out of site, I set them to private and then have to invoke the password setting. What a pain! Sounds like the Top Secret Mobile is my best option. I assume that it only encrypts the data within itself and doesn't call into play the OS's security/password function. I just downloaded TealLock, but like you, I am also a cheapskate. Hate to pay $21.95.

Top Secret is at:
http://www.clicklite.com/TopSecret/TopSecret.html
The PC side costs money, the handheld side is free. It is pretty convenient to edit, etc. on a PC, though. I think SplashID does the same thing cheaper and more elegantly, if you want the PC side.
I like TopSecret because it is idependent of all other programs in RAM, including the OS. You can hide items, though, if you have a Palm password. It is freeform, so in each record you can arrange data any way you like, including multiple ID's, passwords and notes, etc.

I prefer the free-form feature. I tried SplashID and it's too structured for what I need. I went to the Top Secret url you sent but I can't find any downloard link. On TwoCows, etc. I can find a 7 day trial download and then $27.95 for the desk app. Where do I get just the free mobile app?

Looks like they changed things around. Version 1.5 was free, but not 2.0 Send me your e-mail address by private message and I will e-mail you 1.5

I dug around until I found it. Now I can't remember where it was. Oh well, I got it. It looks like if I want to be able to enter items on my pc and have sync'd corresponding info on my pc, I'll have to purchase the $27.95 version.
