I use my T625C for reading ebooks all the time its a mobile killer app for me, I usually have a memory stick loaded up with half a dozen ebooks permanently installed.
I usually convert plain text files using Word and the pdocs plugin which produces palm compatible book files. I then use Palm Reader to view the files on my Clie. Not entirely sure that its the best reader out there, but it is free and works with files on memory sticks, which meets my requirements.
You can download Adobe Reader for Palm from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readerforpalm.html although its not perfect it does a reasonable job of displaying pdf files.
The included version of Documents to go is great with Word files, although embedded gfx will be lost.
