I've just got back home from a trip to the North of England, During my trip up I encountered some problems, the roads will really only be known to the UK contingent, however, the problems may well be known by anyone... here we go, my opologies to the Moggie (Cat) if this is another book.
1. I routed from my home to Liverpool and started off with no problems whatsoever, I had betty connected to an external Gilsson AE. When I got just past the Intersection (M4/A34) at Newbury I noticed that my Direction Arrown was 'off road' with a large circle around it, I flicked over to the GPS page and saw I had great reception from at least 9 Sats and acuracy was down to about 16ft. I was perplexed about this but carried on with my trip, Betty stayed 'Off Route' and in the middle of nowhere with the large circle around the ditection arrow, this continued along the A34 North and onto the M40. about 3/4 of the way along the M40 towards the M42 everything snapped back into place with Betty back on road with no circle around the direction arrow.
2. I'm now using the new V7 CS Europe with the M6 toll road finally added, so when I approached it and Betty ignored it and routed me down the longer route of the M6 non-toll, I just carried on expecting her to give me the 'Off Route recalculating sermon. Nope, all I got was a noice on screen saying 'Routing Error, no roads near present location' and she stopped routing me, again I looked at the GPS page and again |I had a large ammount of sats showing and 18.2 ft acuracy. Again I continued and saw that Betty was in fact following the M6 Toll road but not routing. Once I got off the Toll road and back onto the Non Toll M6 she snapped back into place and started routing me again for the rest of my journey which passed without any more problems.
On the Way back down to the South Of England today I had Exactly the same problems but in reverse.
Im lost and not sure if this is a mapping issue or Ique issue....
Forgoing the road names has anyone else seen anything like this????? I did some screen captures of the routing problems, but for some reason the sat bars are not showing on the screen cap but the acuracy is, I can post them is needed..
TIA

1. Just wanted to point out that I was saying that your previous post was long but I did not mean to infer anything negative. Actually I was commenting on your question about why you didn't get much response and I was pointing out that your post was so informative that it didn't leave a lot to question. :)
2. What is a Moggie? Is this a British version of a cross between a Moose and a Bokkie? That would have taken a large amount of beer to accomplish and certainly someone to hold Moose down.
3. I have not experienced your exact problem but it sounds like it's visually displaying the new road but not seeing it with regards to routing and positioning. Perhaps you have some remnants of V6 loaded. Have you tried deleting all your maps off the iQue, making sure you have V7 selected and reinstalling the maps? If so and it still persists then maybe you can get someone else local to try it on their iQue, such as Bokkie, to determine if its a mapping error or a fault with your iQue. IMO, it's unlikely to be a problem with your iQue other then maybe a bad map file.

Thanks for the answer cat, btw a Moggie is a cat, could be a stray cat or said by someone who is not a cat lover, I dont know in this case where the slang came from, unlike Plonk, but I'll try and find out for ya'll..:)
I was thinking the problem was mapping too, I deleted the Detailed V6 maps but kept the World base map V6 as I didnt think it would make any difference, obviously it may do, so I'll delete that too and install the V7 base map.
Saying that. It could account for my problem on the Toll road but seeing as the A34 and M40 havent changed in eons I fail to see how betty could get lost on that stretch and show that large Circle around the Direction arrow, but as I said, I'll install the V7 base map and run a Simulation to see if I have still have the problem or if its fixed with the new install... I'll keep you posted.

OT: for CC
Moggy or moggie (plural moggies) in Commonwealth English is an affectionate term for a domestic cat, but is also used as alternate name for a mongrel or mixed-breed cat whose ancestry and pedigree are unknown or only partially known. Because of this mixed ancestry and free-breeding, a moggy can either be very healthy, or, if from an inbred feral colony, genetically unsound and sickly. However, as feral colonies are often left without any form of human intervention and veterinary attention, the sickly generally do not live past kittenhood, leaving the colony as a whole healthy.
The origin of the word moggy is not a corruption of the word mongrel as many believe. It is in fact derived from maggie, the short form of Margaret. At one time the word maggie was a term of abuse for a dishevelled old woman. Soon this term was also used to describe an ungainly lumbering old cow and the word was eventually corrupted to become moggy. In the early 20th century the streets of London became filled with very many unhealthy looking stray cats and the term moggy came to be used to describe these unfortunate creatures.
In the United States, a more common term for "moggy" is "alley cat."

My wife is from Knoxville, Tennessee, for those that don't know, it's the deep south. When I first met her family as I was being introduced to her rather large family (12 siblings!) someone said, "meet my mah-mahw" so I looked down for something to pet only to discover that this is a colloquialism for grandmother. No I didn't pet her.

I've got CS7 but I'm afraid that I don't use the Mways so I can't really help out on that one, as a test I've just tried navigating from Stafford to Oxford on the Que and using Mapsource and both sent me down the Toll road.
I'm struggling to see how the Toll road would be shorter to Newbury, the M6/M5 would surely be the shortest?
( having travelled through Newbury to Farnborough when I was at college a few times I used to go to Cheltenham and then across).

Moggie - Maggie - Haggie.
A hag is an old woman I believe, one that has nothing good to say about anything or anyone and has an axe to grind with everyone and everything. Come to think, the ex prime minister was such a person. Not forgetting that her son Mark, was recently convicted in SA for being implicated in a coup attempt. The way that was set up made the Keystone Cops look really top notch! :D

I didnt use the 'Shortest route' I used 'Fastest'
I used to go that way at one time too, use the A417/419 but all in all its about 40 mins slower than the Toll road route.

First, there's no V7 b basemap to add, just because you migrate from CS6 to CS7. The basemap is a separate things, from a separate source, stored in a separate file on the SD-card.
From the original description, not the mjau-mjau thing, it sounds like you have missed one map tile, and thus are driving on the basemap at this troublesome area. But if I get your right, you did see that map image on the screen, with the proper roads, didn't you?

Correct, I can see all the roads in this area and the detail is good down to 120ft so I cant see that Ive actually missed a map tile.

If you still have this map file on the card, then try to search a city by name, tap on the menu (title bar or icon), then try to select a map to search. Are the alternatives here normal, i.e. the basemap(s) you have loaded, and one single entry for the CS 7 maps?
