hello people
Gosh ! of all that 6 to 8 months of slogging my brain, posting threads on so so many forums to try and configure my palm m515 to an infrared mobile phone to acess the WAP or internet on my palm m515....i finally found a way.
now i can use acess avantgo or wap through my mobile phone through wap. IT WORKS guys...
cheers and thank you much for your help.
If any reader has palm m515 or palm M series or probably any PDA having avantgo & infrared ..and wants to access agantgo wirelessly (through infrared) thorough their infrared enabled mobile fone, pls let me know. The mobile phone shud also be infrared.
thank you much
O.K. ALYKHALIL,
You have peaked my interest. I currently connect my cell phone to my Palm m515 via a cable to connect to the internet (not optimal). The infared method seems nice. Obviously I'll need an infrared cell phone. Can you give me SPECIFIC instructions on how you set everything else up to work. I may just break down and purchase an infrared phone if it's that easy / beneficial (the cable thing is getting old).
Cheers,
Syno

hi syno
are you still looking for any help mate. gimme a shout. i apparently also found out that if your with vodafone their website has a configuration for internet access on PDA's as well. All you need to have is a GPRS enable sim card, a mobile fone & a PDA with infrared. Will send you the link if you are interested.
cheers and thank you

Hi Ghaz
well just a coupld of things pls...i dont know much about m505 but i believe shud be the same...now here have a look at the settings...
Now finally, i have found a way to make a palm m515 PDA (or probably all M series or maybe any PDA with infrared)
communicate with a GPRS (maybe optional) enabled mobile phone, through infrared.
I mean, if one wants to access avantgo, wap or some web pages wirelessly on their PDA,
they can do that by making their pda and their mobile phone to communicate though
infrared (both pda and mobile phone should have IrDa).
Step 1 : signup with avantgo.com on their website, Install Avantgo on your pda through
hot sync so that avantgo.com will setup their network/server setting on your pda.
Step 2 : signup with any free dial up services (ONLY pay while you are on or you just pay to be connected to 0845 no.)
like freeuk.co.uk or NTL 1p/min dial up. You will now have an account with avantgo & free uk (or any free dial up service)
plus both their user names and passwords.
After doing that :
1. Goto network settings of your PDA :
A - Service : give any name
B - User name & Password : enter freeuk or avantgo username & password (you must have got that through both websites)
C - connection : IR to PHONE
D - phone : enter freeUk dial up no.
E - details : connection type : PPP
F - Query DNS : YES
G - IP Address : automatic
H - script : end
2. Setting in avantgo connect :
- server name : Avantgo
- Settings : server address : sync.avantgo.com
- port : 80
- user name & password : use of avantgo website
thats it ! then goto avantgo, start infrared on your phone, get it closer to your pda,
and access any wap or some web pages. The pda will dial your mobile and you just pay to connect to 0845 no.
Hope this is of good help as it took me about 6 to 8 months trying to figure this out.
I am also about to do vodafone settings, it seems to be easy but you goto be with vodafone to have them on your PDA.
Let me know if it works as for me it definately does.
thank you

Hello,
Try installing "BLAZER 2.0" web browser for Handspring Visor to surf the web. Its in color and will work with OS4.1
I can surf the web with my M515 with a bluetooth sdio card and Zoom bluetooth dial-up modem. Go to any web site with Blazer 2.0.
Cheers !
