I give up. How? I've got my e740 connecting onto the LAN via our access point and DHCP. I get the following:

My assigned address is 192.168.200.24
The gateway is 192.168.200.1

I can browse and send email no problems.

The computer that Activesync is running on 192.168.200.51 and can sync using the cradle no problems.

.24 can ping .51 and visa versa.

What do I need to do to Activesync via the WLAN? oh, and I've read the useless manual.

In WINS you should have the IP addressed of the PC where AS is installed (192.168.200.51). And in AS you have to check the option to allow AS to be accessed from the Network.

After dealing with this problem this is what I found:

To access the web, my DHCP enabled device needs to be set to:

Internet, work, Internet

To hotsynch over a network, it needs to be set to:

Internet, work, work.

This is in the connections section of the control panel.

Good Luck

Thank you for this piece of information!!! I've been trying to figure this out for a month. It makes little sense, but it works!
Thanks, again!

This thread speaks exactly to why I continue to say that neither these handhelds, nor the desktops/laptops out there are really nearly as 'user-friendly' as the manufacturers would like use to believe. I find it frustrating that it still requires this degree of dedication, patience, and experimentation to achieve what should be simple goals.

I look forward to the day that these things are 'user-friendly' enough for someone with no background to actually pick up and use.

I commend you all for finding this solution!

I agree. At home I've got ICS on Win98 but I need a static IP address. At work I've got DHCP so every time I go from work to home I have to change my Connection settings.

I managed to connect to my office wireless network and almost established a VPN session. I got authenticated then it bumped me off. Problem is, there's no documentation that tells you what the little bugger is doing so I'll probably have to put a Sniffer/Netstumbler on it. Why can't Toshiba (or MS) simply have an addendum that gives some technical details on the connectivity? Like is it using CHAP or MS-CHAP?

By the way, if you need to trace your wireless connection, take a look at NetStumbler.com it's dontationware.

I've followed this, instructions from microsoft, instructions from Toshiba..nothing freakin works.

I have Linksys network hardware, a 4 port router, with a WAP
Host computer is 192.168.1.118
PPC is 192.168.1.117
Gateway is 192.168.1.1
WAP is 192.168.1.2

When I try to sync over LAN with "work" it sits there for along time doing jack shit. When it's The Internet, instantly it says it can't connect.

Any ideas?
