In theory, according to microsoft, you don't need to close the programs, the os will manage and allocate the memory automatically for you and you'll be able to access these programs faster. But there are many 3rd party softwares that provide the close program fuctionality, I use Wisbar.

If you are running PPC2002 your can push the iTask button, last one on the right. This brings up a menu of everything that is running. Tap and hold for a menu and it has a Close all option. I personaly use PocketNav, it sits up in the top right of the menu bar and has one tap access, plus it's free.

The zip file for this app contains the pocketpc version of pocketnav.exe. From your desktop, run an unzip program (or find the application in Windows Explorer and double-click on it) to open the archive. Select the pocketnav.exe executable that is in the arm subfolder (you may have to select the path column option in the zip utility) and extract it to the temp directory. You'll find a subdirectory named arm containing pocketnav.exe. Drag the exe file to the sync folder on your desktop. After the file has been copied to the iPAQ by ActiveSync locate it in file explorer (in the My Documents directory) and move it to the Start Menu folder under the Windows directory.
Checked 4 PPC software sites and couldn't find PocketNav.
PocketGear, Handango, Download.com, FreewarePPC.com.
URL or site you found it? Thnx

There is a link in my last post called PocketNav that takes you to the site of the person who wrote it. That is the only site I am aware of it that has it.

Another good one is Pocket Toolman. It sits in the bar at the bottom and has access to many item and system settings via one tap or two.
