I am waiting for a GPS 10 and in the meantime I added a wireless router to my PC. I set up my HX4700 in literally a few seconds. I am now in landscape mode sending my first PPC thread using the PDA. This stuff is awesome!:)

And it was'nt just that Egmont. I had my home PC and my laptop all hooked up within a few minutes. I screwed up the WAP encryption initially and had to remove it (I need to walk with this stuff) but this has opened up a completely new approach to surfing etc. I wonder why it took so long for me to latch on to it.
If only Mozilla would release a PPC version of Firefox. I hate IE.

Well, it opens up a whole new world of surfing.
I too have my house wireless and the router has a booster antenna to take care of some of the dead spot. What is somewhat annoying, is when I drive and have forgotten to disable wi-fi, come to hot spot and the Garmin screen gets plastered with tags telling you that found one.
What I really like is the fact that I can transmit real time pictures, as I shoot them, from my wi-fi enabled camera to that beautiful screen on the iPAQ.
Have fun;)

There is a very early version (translate to not working that well yet) of it available now.

By the way, congratulation on becoming wifi expert, next thing you'll be streaming music and tv show and never use your desktop again.

Thanks AD. I'm a thoroughly modern PC user now. I wonder what the next bit of hi-tech is I need to look at?

If you want to try another cool "gadget", check out MS Voice Command. It came bundled with my x50v, but I love it. I would have bought it in a heartbeat if it wasnt included.
You can say stuff like "whats my next appointment?"
"what song is this?"
"Start xyz applicaiton"
its a lot of fun, especially when asking it what time is it, and the little synthesiszed voice gets the time out faster than the person next to you.

Another cool gadget I just thought of, if you dont already have something like it, is a homemade HTPC.
I took a 4 year old gateway desktop, that i replaced with my current laptop, and took most of the compenets out. I put in 2 new hdds (400 GB total), 2 PCI HiDef tv capture cards, an AGP DVI out, VGA and HiDef out video card, a big power supply (550 watts i think) and a couple more sticks of ram. I pluged it into a coax cable (s]plit in two), and to an ethernet port. I installed Snapstream BeyondTV (www.snapstream.com). (there are others like mythtv i think, but i tried them, and stuck with btv). It is an awesome set up. I can record 2 shows at once, or wathc and record. I can watch shows COMMERCIAL FREE (automatticaly marks commercials), and best of all, i can showsqueeze to a WMV compatible format to be viewed on my x50v. IT is awesome to be able to go to the gym and watch a show recorded an hour ago commercial free, wirelessly over my BT audio gateway to my mot headset.
Anyway, I DONT work for them, but I swear by this. It has truely "changed the way i think of television"-dtv ad.

PS - no montly fees, its complete free after you buy the software...and did i forget to mention that you can schedule remotely, adn stream video off your computer on to your handheld, oh yeah!

Hey Nate,
What card did you get? I have the one from ATI and watch TV in a corner window.

You don't necessarily need the booster antennas though. If you use sveasoft (http://www.sveasoft.com/) firmware in a linksys, you can boost the transmit power from 25 mW to up to a maximum of 251 mW. A year subscription to updates is a mere $20.00. The firmware adds about 3 dozen new features to the linksys offering.

Happague...i swear by them. It is fully supported by snapstream, and integrates perfectly with the dual tuner setup. I had an old AverMedia card, which was nice, but the big thing is that the new ones have a built in MPEG encoder card. This is important with dual tuners, because with my old card, there had to be software encoding and writing. I think its too much with 2 tuners. However, if you have a software encoded card, you CAN stream LIVE tv to your ppc.

I have an AirPort Express router that fits in your pocket (literally). It said it has a feature that does something similar to that. Do you have to have your computer on to use it? Can you control the playback remotely through the player?

Yes, you need your computer running for this device. It has server software that controls the playlist(s) and internet radio streaming. I actually really like the Internet radio. I find it is of better quality than the standard FM offerings, and there are very few interuptions (commentary or commercials). You can also use the Slimserver to stream over the web. The player has a really nice intuitive interface and a very clear to read display. Unlike some devices (PrismIQ), you do not need the television on for graphical display.

MS Voice Command is a cool product, it's more practical for Windows Mobile Phone edition, you can say the name in contacts to dial, and the voice will annouce the name the person calling if it's in contacts.
It definitely turns people's head when you talk to your PDA asking "What's my next meeting?" and it talks back to you telling you the appointment. Then say "open Shaun of the Dead" and the movie starts playing.
It still does not read back email and in some models does not work with bluetooth headset.

Definately well said! I would love for it to be able to work with my Mot HS headset, by pushing the button for voice command prompt. it would also be nice to have a read command htat reads the highlighted text. I found a program that does voice synthesis and works great, but cant remember what its called. Ill post later.
