I got this in the email. It looks like a pretty good enhancement to an already good search function on our Ques. Anyone have any experience with this Company or software? Bill H

Beiks has just released the long awaited global search enhancement for Palm OS handhelds. Find it at: http://www.**********/palmzonebg/ShowTitle.asp?TitleID=599
Like any other Palm OS user, you probably often rely on the global Find feature of your handheld to lookup information. And like others, you may have hit cases when it doesn't find what you're looking for.
Here is one possible reason - Palm's Find does not find text within text!
Searching for "234" will miss "18002345678" and searching for "Beal" will miss "McBeal".
Try it on your handheld now!
The new Beiks Find enhancements will find those entries.
It will as well add the last 10 searches to the FIND window, a benefit you will only come to appreciate once you have it for a while.

So, to answer my own question, I bought it and REALLY like it. If I search, but can only recall a part of an address or memo entry (like an area code), this will drill down into all of the text/numbers stored and find it. Big help. Bill H

I've tried something similar before, but I didn't like it. It took over the normal find procedure, thus the find categories, specific to the iQue (Waypoints, Addresses, POI's) didn't show up.
You had to go through the launcher, and click on Find there, to make it work.
Since I more frequently search for GPS-related items than within the Palm applications, I decided to live with the limitations of Palm OS find, and have the iQue find features available at the tap of the magnifier icon.

Yeah, I can see where this might not suit you, but I keep EVERYTHING on Betty. I can find anything quickly, with any key word, regardless of where and how it's stored. I like that capability; it suits my needs very nicely. Bill H

Bill, does that application install itself as the default global find, as Anders indicated some do? Specifically, after installing that application, if I punch the magnifying glass at the bottom, will I still get QueFind or will I get that application?
I'm interested in it for the reasons you mentioned, but I'm like Anders in that I use QueFind way more than the global find and I quite like the ability to use QueFind to find some point of interest and then hit "Route to".

As I said above, the other find enhancement I tried didn't block access to QueFind completely, but disassociated it with the magnifier icon.
By opening the appropriate category in the launcher, and there tapping the Find icon, it was possible to run it. I considered that too cumbersome at the time, but now, when we have Fastfinger, perhaps I should re-consider?

The application 'becomes' the Palm OS Find" in the Quefind desktop, after installation (normal hot-sync application installation method). After tapping the magnifying glass in the upper left corner, it searches for your key word, wherever it is, even buried down in pasted text (like the Forum's FAQ paper or some of Fastfinger's instructions, etc.) It seems to search ALL categories, even datebook and waypoints/addresses. I like it. Bill H
