I am having a problem getting windows media player 9 to play a mpg, avi, or mpeg file I can upload them fine to my asus a620 with no problem the movies are about 16 sec. but no luck thanks for your time

Windows media player does not play any of those format, it only play mp3 and Microsoft wma audio files and Microsoft video format files (wmv, asf). You will need either

BetaPlayer which can play mpeg, divx or xvid avi files;

http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/

or Pockettv which can play mpeg files;
