It really is a matter of personal preference, especially if you are carrying it in a purse. Soft cases, as long as the leather is somewhat stiff, still offer considerable protection. Hard cases obviously offer a lot of protection.

I've opted for a hard ali case for my 515, the std item from Palm. Very good it's been too.

IMHO, for any that you buy, check that you will be able to hotsync with the minimum of fuss. The reason I bought my case was that it hinges the pda open so that it sits on the craddle, albeit with the cradle raised onto a small box.

Getting the pda out and into a case every sync would do my nut.

Good luck,

what are some cases that you can use the cradle with. This is my first pda so everything is new to me.

The Palm M5xx series, hard ali case that allows sync without pda removal can be found at;

http://store.palm.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1157331&cp=1170724.1157611&parentPage=family

Palm, part code = P10815U

Is practical, durable, looks good and I've not had any problems with the pda switching on when the case is closed, as noted in other threads.
