I have a palm III handheld with OS v.3 installed. With this you can only hotysnc using the cradel. However I have now bought a new m515 that has v4.0.1 and which allows you to hotsync via infrared. My palm III integrates fine with the new desktop softaware, but I still have to use the cradle to hotsync as the hotsync softare on my palm III handheld is the old version. Can anyone tell me how I can install the new operating software (or at least the infrared software driver) that came with the m515 onto my palm III handheld? I have tried everything but always end back where I started. Only thing I haven't tried is hard reseting my palm III and then hotsyncing using the new software. Would this do the trick?

Apprecaiate you help

OS3.3 has IRDA support, so you can do IR HotSync. You can go up to OS3.5 for free. See the thread below for links:

I put OS3.3 on my PalmPro, so I am 100% sure it will work on your III. I heard that OS3.5 works fine on a III (the 3.5 upgrade PDF say so), even though the web page says it is only for Vx. I don't know if OS4.1 is worth the $. It has support for memory cards, etc., which your III cannot not use.
