Is there a way to update your location on to a website. Either automatically or through updating to a PC and then on to a website.

Basically I would like to be able to post my trips/current location around the country to my webpage.

Thanks

Jim

If you have the track conduit installed, at least you get the recorded track out of the iQue, at each hotsync. Then what to do with it I assume depends upon what your website looks like, doesn't it?

Radio amateurs have been doing that for a long time, with GPS signals linked over radio (APRS). Then came GSM phones and then GPRS, packet switched, which makes it cheaper than GSM. I've seen at least one german site (in english) describing a whole set up from GPS to web page with map.

www.sanav.com showed a relly neat tracking unit with built in GPRS phone for something like 300 euros on the cebit. It might not be on their web page yet. That's the way I'd go (if I cared for the project).

Linking your iQue in a car to a phone is impractical since it's difficult to connect a serial cable to the car cradle (for the other cradle it's easy).

You might not want to give your position at evey moment. But still, it would probably be better to show it on a map than to just give the lat Long coordinates which most people couldn't use anyhow. So it would be enough to send position over GPRS when you want to state where you are.

Yes, Jonas method is of course a way to go, if you want it done in real time (sort of). I interpreted it as you wanted it to update after the fact.
Maybe it's both, at different times?

Updating real time would be nice, but I don't think there is a way to do it.

Posting it at the end of the day, with the tracks may be best, but not sure the best way to get it from MapSource to the web.

This is all new to me, I figure I can do a screen drump and post that or take the map coordinates, post it to Mapquest and then link that location to the website.

All this is new to me, so I am trying to find the easiest way to do this.

Thanks
