Do any of you use any kind of wifi detectors? I was looking at this:

So i dont have to turn my wifi on my x50v, beacuse when you do you usually have to reset it to do so (freakin dells).
If so, how do they work? Would you recommend one?

nate, so far I haven't had the problem of having to reset to establish wifi. I thought this issue was fixed with release A02. Under what conditions does it happen for you?

basically everytime i turn on either wifi or bluetooth. after i disable either, neither will work unless i reset. I am having a new one sent overnight from dell, after a month of waiting for a screen replacement from dell. I called this afternoon (of course 3 am in india, which i talked to the guy about), and they are expiditing shipment on a replacement. I am hoping that it will fix both issues (wifi/bt and screen alignment).

Nate - IF you ever get your X50V to work correctly a nice "sniffer" you can install on the Axim is WiFiFoFum. I have it installed on my x50mid and it works well for detecting WiFi hotspots. I have never had any of the problems you are having. I do have AO2 installed.

I LOVE that program. I have it on mine now, and when it works, it works great. I wish there was something like airsnort for the ppc though.

I've been using PocketWinc http://www.cirond.com/pocketwinc.php

The Axim's WLAN utility displays all the hotspots it can see and indicates the signal strength and encryption status.
I would like to know what can a Wi-fi detector provide on top of this? It appears that it is an unnecessary step, since you have to go back to the WLAN utility to establish a connection.
Can someone enlighten me?

It was beacuse of the issues ive been having with the wlan utility and the bt module. I am getting a new unit though, because they said mine had a defect in that and in the screen.
