After almost three yaers of faithful and uneventful service, my Palm V just froze on me, wouldn' respond to taps, couldn't turn it off. After all three Resets (soft, hot and hard) I am stuck with a piece of metallic plastic (small and light, I have to admit) displaying the opening screen of Palm Computing Platform and refusing to do anything.
Can anybody offer any help?

Thanx in advance

Mark

Mark,
It sounds like the Contrast Button on the top has gotten stuck.
Push it around and you can even pry it out with a small scew driver.
Try that and let me know if we need to go further.

You were absolutely right, the button was stuck. I released it and now the same welcoming screen flashes continuously. Once in a while I get a message asking if I want to erase all the data (seems to me like one of the stages of hard reset). I answer No and the flashing continues.
Is there any way out of it without erasing all the data or is it already too late?

Thanks very much for your help

Mark

Mark,
I am sorry to say that the only way out of the loop is the hard reset. You need to say "yes."

Thanks again.
The Palm works OK, I hope that HotSync will return everything to normal.

The only problem is that I've lost a very convenient excuse to buy myself the Tungsten, but I'll think of something else.;)
