I notice that before I go to a place I enter it in and tell my 3600 to locate it - of course it's sometimes a pain to make 12 south first street into 12th S first street but I get to enter it. Often, it says arriving at destination in a misleading but close place.
so, what i always do is, if there is a waypoint called
Charlie's Chicken, and the actual door of the place is 1000 feet from where the GPS says it is, I mark a new waypoint, and call it 'real charlie's". then when i'm home, i sync up and use the palm program to copy the coordinates of the "real charlies" and paste them into the previous address with all the contact info. then i delete the "real charlie" entry and sync again. is there an easier way to do this?

Sometimes POI (points of interest) are mislocated on the database, but you cannot delete a POI entry (AFAIK) from your iQue, can you? If you know a way to correct or amend the Navteq database, please share it.
Are you saying that you save a POI as a Waypoint just to go there? You can just route to it without saving as a waypoint, you know. It will still be easy to re-find under recent finds. No point in duplicating data in your pda, but 1000' error is admittedly pretty bad.

What I mean is that let's say I want to go to 124 easy street where a client is, i use the palm program to enter it as a contact.
I synch, and look it up in the 3600 and say locate, it finds it, (I wait till I have 3D lock at 30 feet accuracy before doing this)
Then I navigate to my client, and find the client is not exactly where the 3600 said it was. I wish there was a way to just say "Update this waypoiint" to my current location.

I see what you mean. I agree it seems the database identifies address numbers at road intersections and divides the intervening address numbers evenly between, not always spot on.
To move your waypoint, try this:
select the waypoint you wish to reposition
select details
select edit waypoint
select Que from the dropdown menu at the top of the screen
select Set Location
you then have a choice of find, manual or map to change the location (or set it if there is none).
Most other Garmin GPS units have a "move to here" option, but not the iQue.

Using the above method, I find it easy enought to click on the triangle (the actual location) after following the above steps and selecting "map" after "select Set Location."
The next time you go to that location it will be where the triangle was when you set it.

Thanks, that's what I tried before but what I find is that when I do that, it gets me within 100 feet or so of accuracy, even when I have 3D lock at 9 feet accuracy. If I use my other method first discussed - and stand in front of a place and mark it as place-real, then sync to the PC, copy the coordinates in field 4 from the place-real, and paste them into the already existing "place", then delete the temp place-real, and re-synch, my GPS can now find place within 20 feet rather than the 100 feet with the method you mention above. 20 feet rather than 100 may seem trivial, but if i want to mark apartment 3b and every 50 feet there is a apt 3a, 3b, and 3c - you can see how I like being accurante within 20 feet when my 3d lock is plus or minus 9 feet. Thanks guys.

I think you're up against a limitation of the unit's software. A nice addition to R4 would be a "move to here" option to reset a location. That is, if there is ever really gonna be a R4.
The method you use now is probably simpler than copying the coordinates and inputting them.
Perhaps the 3600a works differently? Anders? Anyone?

p.s. Zoom ALL THE WAY in when selecting your present location on the map. Could reduce digitizer error.

In this case the 3600a works the same way as the 3600.
Due to the design of the maps, it's at the current state not possible to modify the maps when they are in the GPS itself.
It's true that the database only holds street numbers at intersection nodes. It uses interpolation to get the numbers in between. If the size of the various estates vary a lot, then the numbers can by quite a bit off.
