IMO, it all depends on how often you are going to use it.

thanks much I've got the Topo maps and I hate them. They're no way high enough detail for what I want. I wanted 24,000, not 100,000 :( Wanna buy it?

Concur with Ann. Look at Quake Map or National Geographic Topo if you want a usable level of map detail.

I have the Garmin topo maps.

They're fine for me. We are recreational hikers.

I would not use them for a 1 week trip, (not enough detail) but for a 2 hour hike, they work for me!

( follow a trail, enjoy nature. Turn on GPS, look for quickest way home, and go!)

P.S. I use them mostly on my Garmin GPS III. They're just as good on my IQUE, but the GPS III batteries last MUCH longer. ;)

I know, Coop, I'd actually feel guilty selling them to anyone they disappointed me so. :(

I have just downloaded Outdoor Navigator, and it seems to be just what I was looking for. $19.95 for the software, and you have unlimited downloads of topo maps. I have downloaded about 40 1:24000 topos of my favorite areas, and took a little spin round the neighborhood to see how it works.....very nice, and you can't beat the price.

The maps are not full screen yet on the iQue 3600, but that is supposed to change this summer. When it does, the upgrade will be free.

No, you certainly can't beat the price, especially since some of us (cough, cough) paid $99 for the program before they dropped the price.

I've not downloaded the latest version, I switched computers and haven't reinstalled any of the ON files, I'll have to do that again someday. The maps are nice, though, and they do install on an SD card.

I found in an old thread that you were reasonably happy with it, and went to their site expecting to pay $99....I was pleasantly surprised!!

It IS fullscreen on the 3200, but they say the release date for the 3600 slipped because they were working on Smartphone. That has since been released, so they alledgedly have time to concentrate on the high-res Palm platform now.

Edited to add the following from their development forum:

Q3/2005 – Outdoor Navigator 2.2 for Palm and Pocket PC
The Palm version will be released first (July). It will add support for Palm high resolution displays and full screen displays like the Garmin iQue and Tungsten T3/5 devices. I’m interested in adding a course-up display option and tracks to the Palm version at this time too. Some extra key definitions for Treo devices will also be made for command shortcuts. The Pocket PC version will be released with the exact same capabilities (high resolution, course-up, tracks).

No, russw, I just e-mailed their tech support last week and was told they do not.
