I am a previous palm user. My company has switched us over to PPC.

In Outlook on my PC I can link an appointment to a contact. In pocket outlook, the link does not show. Is there an add on program that will show this link? Ideally I could also make a link in appointments I make on the PPC. Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong?

I tried the PI demo, thinking that would solve my problem. If it has that function I couldn't find it.

Whatever the solution; it has to use the outlook database and synch to Outlook. Part of the reason for the switch from palm is that our appointments, etc, all synch to the company server.

You should be able to do it in Pocket Informant (not sure if it's available in trial version), on page 19 of this userguide:
http://download.pocketinformant.com/6/Reference.pdf
"Tap and hold on a contact in Contacts View, and choose ‘Create Appt With…’ The new appointment will be linked automatically to the contact, and the contacts name will be entered into the subject field."

Agenda Fusion is another 3rd party PIM that will be able to do it as well.

Thanks AD.
Do you know if Agenda Fusion uses the pocket outlook database, or if it builds its own? I understand that PI builds on the native database.

Never Mind,
I found it in their web page. It does use pocket outlook's data base.

Thanks again.

I believe Pocket Informant is also using Pocket Outlook database. The author is thinking about creating its own database and sync conduit though.

Do you know if either of these programs allows me to see the links between appointments and contacts I have made on the desktop? The really annoying thing is that I can make the link in Outlook, but I can't see it in Pocket Outlook.

Pocket Informant does use the native database.

Thanks again.

I see what you want to do now, i'm not sure if that's possible, it may be the limitation pocket outlook database and activesync. But you may want to check with the developer if they have a workaround, PI has its own forum.

According to support at WebIS (the Pocket Informant folks) the problem is Active Synch, which won't synch links. What is interesting is that if I start from a contact to make an appointment, MS Outlook only saves the contact information as a link. But the link doesn't show up in Pocket Outlook. I found this out by showing up at an appointment and discovering I had no idea who I was supposed to meet and no way to find out.

In Pocket Outlook, there is no way (that I can find) to make an appointment from the contact program, or to link the contact to the appointment. Pocket Informant solves this problem, but it doesn't play well with my Garmin navigation software.

If anyone knows of a solution to this conundrum let me know.
