Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could give some advice on this PDA?
I currently have a 2210 and a Nokia 6230, but I quite like the idea of having the two devices in one.
Would I really notice the drop from a 400mhz PDA to a 200mhz? Does anyone know if HP are planning a 400mhz version?
I'm on the UK Orange network, would I simply be able to switch my sim card over into the 6340 and it would work?
Are they any other PDA/phone combo devices about that people can recommend? I would need it to be able to show movies, play MP3's, check e-mails, run TomTom3 etc (ie, not just a good smartphone).
Thanks for any help :)

There are many things in h6300 series that can be improved and there are also few issues with the model. As you mentioned, slow cpu, it also does not have the latest wm2003SE os. I would wait for the new soon to be realeased hw6500

Or if you need one now, take a look at i-mate PDA2k instead;

Both h6340 and pda2k are unlocked and can accept any sim card.

Is it really worth waiting for? Its still only a 300mhz CPU, the screen is only 240 square (not so good for my movies :( ) and its not got WiFi (I have a wireless network at home).
How noticable will the drop in CPU be? The only thing I do that I can imagine suffering is Tomtom3. Everything else is just e-mails and such...
I guess the only really nice thing about the 6500 that I like the look of is the built in GPS receiver... but I'm guessing packaging Tomtom (which one as v5 is out soon) will bump the price right up :(
I have to say the PDA2K looks very nice, but at £560 is a little above what I was thinking of paying... Mind you, I can see a few on eBay at much less :)

I think hw6500 is being released to compete with Palm Treo 600 series. The only interesting thing is that it will be the 1st pocketpc that supports EDGE technology. I agree that the cpu is rather slow, but my guess is the unit is designed for primary for phone use, come to think of it perhaps that's why there is no wifi.
PDA2k is expensive but for current pocketpc/phone models, it is the most complete unit, 128mb of ram is very nice, the only thing it lacks is vga screen. I-mate jam is not a bad model, smaller unit make it make suitable to carry as primary phone.

Well, I got hold of a PDA2K for £325 and WOW
Very nice piece of kit :) Thanks for the advice.
**EDIT**
Hey, now I'm not supposed to post in the iPaq forum :eek: But... there's no I-Mate forum :confused:
Does the I-Mate take the same input as a XDAII? They apparently take the same connectors?

They have different connectors at the bottom, accessories are not compatible with each other.

Not to doubt your wisdom, but are you sure?
The guy that sold me this I-mate pointed out to me the USB hotsync cable was actually a XDAII cable... and it works fine with my PDA2K? How about the XDAIIs (is that different from the XDAII) cause that actually looks like the same machine!
XDAIIs -

Accessories in eBay generally seem to be listed as 'I-mate PDA2K & XDAII compatible'?
**EDIT**
Or like like this (http://www.arkon.com/bluetoothgps.html#xdaiii-bt) mount.

Oh, and this is the SPV M2000 -

Surely they are all the same accessories wise?

XDA2s and PDA2k are excatly same model, one is black the other silver. SPV M2000 is a tri-band(instead of quad band) and no wifi version of pda2k. The models name is certainly confusing, when i refer to xdaII, it's this one;

Come to think of it, if they have the same 22 pins connector, even though they have different version of OS, accessories should work. Just double check with the sellers, sorry for the confusion.
