Why has birdwatch no tidal correction. Is useful for boating. I plan surveying by boat and measure depth, I think tidal correction necessary is.

Thanks from William R.

Probably because it wasn't intended for that purpose.
Try Tide Tool, to give you tidal data.

Not intended for purpose, OK. But that should change. birdwatch show track so track with tidal correction in colour is possible. If birdwatch saves tracks too it is versatiles.

But that should change

I hope you don't mean it the way I read it.
I think we must be very gratefull that our forumfriend makes those nice apps for us ,for free!

I'm not sure what you mean by "tidal correction". What exactily do you think should be corrected?

It sounds like you are wanting birdwatch to modify altitude data based on what the current tide level is for the location. Is that correct? If so, I sincerely doubt that is possible.

Even the best tide prediction tools can only make a prediction of what the average tide would be at a given location at a given time assuming some default atmospheric conditions. Factors such as barometric pressure, winds, etc. all have an effect on what the "real" tide level is which can deviate significantly from the predicted value.

Applying predicted values to the values being read will not necessarily give you any meaningful results.

(I am assuming your "that should change" is a polite request for an enhancement to an already wonderful tool.)

It has become obvious to me that William is not a native english speaker, and some of what he says is a result of that. Mind you, I can't speak any other language than english, so I admire those who speak multiple languages. I don't think he means to come off the way he does. I don't think he's demanding the change, but strongly suggesting it.

He's probably not going to get a reply from JMckie as I believe he used "Incredible Fax" to demonstrate the forums "ignore" feature...

Seems every syllabel I write is weighted ;)

qeye yes I want to do such correction. Your right such tide are not precise but it is more then zero. I plan to make batymetryc charts for Cayes here.
