How do I use my Zire 72 as a music player? The built-in auto off shuts the pda down after three minutes, which means I get to hear one song!
Am I missing something?

Hello cindyhuebert,

Paul from palmOne here.
Are you using RealPlayer?
If you stay in RealPlayer while listening to music, it should not stop playing, ordinarily.
However, if you leave RealPlayer while music is playing and go to some other application and don't perform an action for 3 minutes, the music will stop and the unit will shut off.
So my guess is that you may be starting the music in RealPlayer, then moving on to another app (or the launcher home page) and then letting it sit for 3 minutes without any further input from your stylus.
If this is the case, just let the Zire stay in RealPlayer and the music should continue beyond the 3 minute mark.

If you have RealPlayer's preferences set to Enable Backgroud Playback, you can work with other apps while listening to music. Just keep in mind that if you stop playing solitaire for 3 minutes the music will stop and the unit will turn off.

Hope this isn't too confusing.

Best

Paul

I have a freeware app, that works fine in my zire 72 that is called "Always On". With this app running, you can customize the time the PDA is going to be "On".
IŽm attaching the file if youŽd like to have it.

Paul,
Thank you! That's exactly what I needed to know. I haven't paid attention to my tendencies, but I think you are right. It's such a relief to know what I should be doing. Thanks again!

And thank you Carlos for your info.
