Exchanging a few files with a fellow Psion user my infrared receive was interupted and has locked in a loop. I think the problem came bout because he still had an open file in the app he was trying to send me.

When I press the cancel button I get an "Access Denied" error.

There seems to be no way to cancel the infrared receive and I can find nothing in help to help!

I can get at other programs - but system is completely locked out.

What can I do?

Last resort - how do I reset the machine? Unfortunately my complete back up of files is on my RiscPC 3,500 miles away so I'd rather not have to do this!

First of all try the key combination of Ctrl+Shift+Fn+K. Hopefully, this should "kill" the foreground application - i.e. the infrared transfer - without affecting anything else.

Second resort is a soft reset, which should not lose any data except in any open unsaved files which you are unable to close. This is performed by inserting the famous unfurled paper clip into the reset hole, located inside the backup battery compartment, right next to the button cell.

Absolute last resort is the hard reset - all batteries out and all data lost - and of course in the case of the netBook this would require reinstallation of the OS as well.

I would be very surprised if one of the first two options does not resolve the problem.

Sorted, thanks.

I was surprised that the key combination was not listed on the Help app in the machine - but I've made a note for future referrence.

Now off to get that app downloaded again!
