Earlier if I were to press REC to create an voice memo while driving, it would create a memo waypoint - memo with attached location. Of late, I find it doesn't. Is there a setting that would switch it back on?

Do you mean that it automatically assoicated the current location with a voice memo? I know that you manually can do that association, but I've never made any voice recording whilst the GPS was active. Always something new to try out! Skata 05-01-2005, 04:00 PM I know there used to be an option that when you made a recording, you could associate it with a location. I understood that it would repeat the recording everytime you approached the location. This would be a great way to make a driving tour guide if you could download a tour guide's remarks that go off at the proper location. I haven't looked to see if the option is still there. It may have gotten removed as they removed other options with upgrades (one option that was removed was where you set a new location, it used to be you could choose a waypoint as one of your choices - now it is no longer a choice). If the iQue has a lock (knows where it is, antenna up or connected) it will record the location when making a voice memo. It's always done this and still does. As far as repeating the announcement when you approach that location, I've never heard that this was a feature of the standard iQue software but maybe a proximity warning with some of the 3rd party programs. jarekm 05-02-2005, 07:44 AM Just walked all over my backyard creating voice waypoint. Just hold the rec button in while in map view. Created 10 or so waypoints. They did not playback. si4xp 05-02-2005, 08:58 AM Voicememo never plays back when you re-visit the point where it was created. I think this automatic association is to help create waypoints that you don't find in the POI. Later you could edit the waypoint and add more descriptive name to it. However, coming to my original point, is there a setting to switch this option ON? Curious Cat 05-02-2005, 10:55 AM There is an option to manually attach a location to a voice memo but other then that it should be automatic. Have you tried a soft reset or more? vipros 05-02-2005, 01:22 PM To get the automatic waypoint, the antenna must be on before recording. apersson850 05-06-2005, 04:34 PM I tried it today, with a 3600a. No position was associated with the recording, in spite of the fact that the GPS was active. Is it only the 3600 (haven't tried that yet), or is it just a dream? vipros 05-06-2005, 10:09 PM Originally posted by apersson850 I tried it today, with a 3600a. It works as described. daytonatom 11-10-2005, 12:24 PM There are three menu items in 'Voice' the last one of these, 'Que' allows you to either attach or remove location. I also have an interest in getting the voice sound-byte to be automatically generated when I approach a point that I have previously been to. I race bikes and cars and am frequently exposed to unfamiliar circuits and it would be nice to have instructions reminding me of the circuit layout until it becomes old hat. Does anyone know whether any 3rd party software exists in this regard, or failing that, how would I get to maybe have such an application developed? Because I don't know the terminology I should be using, I don't know how to find 3rd party software vendors using a search engine, can anyone point me to such people. Many thanks PDA Street
