Im trying to use a picture as my background but when I go to setting>today and browse for the picture it never seems to show up. Ive checked off the "use this picture as the background" and it shows the name below. Is there something with the theme that causing this?

Where do you put the picture files? Try putting them in My Documents folder.

once i saved it there I was able to highlight it and set as today wallpaper. I cant however set it as the background but thats okay.

Do you want it to be a background everywhere in the system? I'm afraid it will only show up on the Today Screen. There's also theme files (.tsk files) which let you customize a little more, but the image will still only display on Today Screen. You can convert picture to theme file using free Theme Generator from MS;
