I'm a Newton person myself, but a friend of mine gave me his Hitachi HPW-10 handheld PC to have a look at, as it wasn't working. Apparently he had left cheap batteries in it, they'd leaked, and it wouldn't turn on. It had been sitting in his room for a few months after the batteries were removed. Anyway, I open it up, there's only a little bit of corrosion and rust here and there, nothing linking anything together. I clean as much as I can, but I still can't get it to work. Then I removed the PCMCIA card bay thing that screws onto the PCB and found a larger than the average size surface mount capacitor that had completely been burnt out. I have no idea what value this cap had, so if anyone could direct me to a schematic of this unit, I would be greatly appreciative.
