Yes. You can actually check out the manuals online at Garmin.

that sounds good
am i right in thinking this feature is not available on the original 3600. I have tried to find it but to no avail...
What I wish to be able to do is let a route be calculated and to say "dont use M25"
Kind regards
Tim

You are correct that the iQue did not have this feature.
It is available with the GPS 10 and quite handy. They just closed a busy bridge in this area for 6 months for repairs and I was able to enter the information to avoid the bridge.
I made a few test routes that would normally use the bridge, but it came up with very good routes that avoid it.
Very handy feature. Wish the iQue had it as well.

The M5 lets you select portions of roads to avoid by prompting you to click on the start and end points on the map (i.e., you don't have to exclude the entire road). You can also select areas to be avoided by drawing squares around them on the map.
The iQue 3600 does not have any avoidance features.

Well, it has the fixed avoidances, like avoid toll roads or u-turns.
The 3600a has the custom avoidances, just like the M5.

The iQue 3600 has a Detour function, but you enter the length of the detour and is reroutes you. Thing is, if some piece of road is closed for construction, how are you supposed to know how long the detour is? So I haven't used the detour function. I've just followed the road signs through the detour and let the dynamic remapping recalculate the route. (Of course, I had to put up with many "Off Route" alerts, but that's a small thing, I think.)

I got tired of the "Off route - recalculating" voice prompt, so I changed the setting to recalculate automatically, but silent.
Sometimes in this country, they put up signs with a message like "Construction work 20 km". In such a case you'd know how long a detour to wish for.

Could someone suggest a good place to buy an M5 in the UK, either at a shop or online..
Many thanks

Hint: There is a forum for Garmin on PPC over at the Pocket PC side of pdastreet.com
It includes the M5
