Barcode scanner?

I'm purchasing a Dell Axim. I would like to find some info on barcode scanners that can be used with this handheld. My goal is to be able to develop software that would be able to accept input from a barcode scanning device.

Can anyone turn me on to information that may help me with this?

You may be able to use these CF barcode scanners from Socket. They are ppc 2202 compatible.

That's exactly what I'm looking for, but jeez it's expensive. Not exactly cost effective. You can buy a scanning handheld device for less than just that wand costs. Anyone know of any other less expensive solutions?
