If it's really a Hitachi Microdrive unit in this device, I wonder if it's possible to just (note - "just), open it up, throw in a 4GB (or larger??) CF card, and save battery life, and hopefully add some durability to the item, in the event of a drop??

I'd love to be able to throw a 4GB Lexar super fast CF card in there rather than a Microdrive.

Can't wait to get some feedback about the device overall, looks killer on paper.

If your idea is possible, this would make this device even more of a "killer."

There is just ONE problem.
Palm's nowadays dont have CF readers....
some PPC's do but then it wouldnt be a Palm.

You see, if this were the case, people could just go out and buy the cheaper T5 (i didnt say CHEAP is said CHEAPER) and a huge memory card. Simple!

But, remember that the 64Mo RAM are on the harddrive...

And I don't think it's easy to create a new partition on a CF card...

But, hey, who knows, maybe the LifeDrive 2 will bring us all things that lacks to the LifeDrive #1.

The lifedrives ram may acctually be part of the HDD.....
I dunno, but thats what some people reckon, because there is a delay when loading something off the RAM.

It would be interesting to see if it is possible to take the MicroDrive out of the LifeDrive and use it in a card reader to copy the system files to the desktop and then copy them back onto a CF card without creating a second partition first.
