palm information switch with yahoo

I recently got a free Yahoo account. When I attempted my last HotSync, somehow my Yahoo address book replaced my Palm address directory. I have the information backed up on the Palm Desktop and have tried to HotSync it back (even after uninstalling and reinstalling the Desktop software) with no luck.

Anyone know why this happened and if/how I can fix it?
