Greetings folks - this is the first message from the Grump.

I'm trying to replace a dead M105 (after my Treo 90 got stolen) and I'm looking at some M505 units on ebay. What is the going price on one of these units?

Because it is an older PDA, the only thing I can suggest is go to Froggle.com, try a search through this search engine.
Hey, while you are bidding, you might want to consider upgrading your goals to work on m515.

I think the m515 is a far better unit than the 505; more reliable, better color, more memory etc.
Chris Short an electrcial engineer in Minesota refurbishes Palms and does a great job. I have purchased a number of 515s from him for my school program. They have never failed and are under a 90 day warranty.
His email is: ips@chartermi.net

Email Chris with your needs and he will let you know the price. He is easy to deal with.

I am sure this forum is all far too technica l for me, but here i go....

I have a Palm m505 which is my bible and has been for some years. I set it onits cradle every day in my office and synchronise my addresses and Outlook. At the end of the day I take it home.

For some bizarre reason when i sync'd it last week instead of it taking 30 seconds i realised it was taking ages (5 minutes or more) and that the icon on my pc screen was different from usual. it showed papers flying from one side to the other!

Wehn i came to look for an address the next day I discovered the whole of my address book was missing (collected over 20 years!) and I have now lost the will to live!

I know the palm has the details in there somewhere because when i re write some of the addresses the Palm, predicts what I am about to type. But how the hell do I get to them?

By the way I have a palm and cradle for sale (my son's who never used it)

Is everyone on this forum living in USA? I'm in UK

Look around in your PC hard drive for files named address.dat This has happened to others:
http://forums.palmone.com/pe/action/forums/displaysinglethread?rootPostID=20164171&returnExpertiseCode=
found at Palm.com, searched under "address book"

Hopefully you find one that is not blank.

Good luck.
