Anyone here seen the P800 samples?
I want to know how much of a replacement/complement a P800 would be. I realise its phone so not really a replacement.
I currently have a revo+ with memory enhancement (went S5 -> r+ cause of size - my 5 kept getting left in the office so no good when having adhoc meetings) but that's creaking, so need something to at least replace the web/newsgroup/email element.
P800 sounds like it could. Though maybe a Nokia 3650 could too?

Hi Nic
Good to see you here at Psion Place! :)
The P800 certainly looks like an interesting device, although personally I haven't been impressed with the idea of these smartphones, simply because to me one could never be a stand alone "replacement" for the Psions I use at the moment.
Interesting that you use the word "complement" - to me that could be the key. If it would integrate well with my current 5mx/netBook/cellphone set up then maybe it has a place, but I doubt there's going to be sufficient compatibility between the different OS versions.
To replace a Revo? Well, maybe, but could you really get on OK without a keyboard?
For me, I can't help thinking it's a solution looking for a problem! Time will tell - I shall not be rushing out to buy one in anything like the foreseeable future.

Hi Julie
well it was too quiet on pdaBuzz :D
I've seen reviews that say the P800 is a phone with added PIM stuff and that its aimed as a palmkiller tool (after all no keyboard!!), so not an upgrade for current psion owners.
I really need something "pocketable" to store my agenda, etc for when about in normal day. Currently use a Revo which is fine for at the desk and going to meetings, but often it gets left on the desk if I'm just popping out for a minute, which is what I'd originally bought it for!! Don't have enough pockets for Revo Phone & Wallet. maybe I need a "Gentlemans handbag" :p

I can see your point about the pocketable device, of course, although it doesn't concern me as I always have a Psion (at least one!) in my bag. Then maybe you DO need a Gentleman's Handbag! ;) Perhaps you need advice from the netBook guys - have a look at this recent and (in my opinion) rather amusing thread:

Not definite about this, but in my crazier moments when I have thought of shifting from psion I never could because of the keyboard issue, though now there are some very good fold out portable keyoards, and I imagine one of them will work with the P800, Irealise it is one more thing to remember and carry so maybe it is time for a gentlmans "vanity Bag" :-) .

The Ericsson chatboard for the T28/29/68 is supposed to also work for the P800.
There is also the pocketkop IR keyboard that works with a variety of PDA's (even psions  ).
But if you are having to carry an extra keyboard then it's not as portable a system.
There are some suit trousers with concealed pouches for PDA's etc :)

Folks,
For those of us in countries where the P800 is not available and
english speaking and desperate for any information on the subject,
sonyericsson now have a support section available in english.
This includes the manuals!
Link is shown below. This is also available through the Swedish site.
Hope this is of interest
