Hi, You can all laugh if you like but I have no idea if my Ipaq can be upgraded to a later version of winCE than the one that is currently installed which is winCE 3.0.9348.
Any clues appreciated.

What iPAQ model do you have? If you have the original 3600 series, yes you can upgrade to pocketpc 2002. But HP is no longer selling the upgrade cd, you can still find it on Ebay, do a search there for "ipaq 2002 upgrade cd".

Yeah, I guess that knowing the model would be a good idea, huh?
Good job I never said I was a nerd, :D
I have a 3635 which is the exact same as a 3630 except that mine shipped with a pc card jacket as standard.
Many thanks,
Steve

Got it, done it, where's my T-shirt?
Bit scarey with all the dire warnings during set-up about damaging the PDA but got it done and it looks a lot better.
The only problem is that I had a screen orientation thing before but it's gone now and I can't remember where I got it, lol.
Is 2003 out of the question?
Does being a 32 megger limit it to 2002?
What, if anything, is better with 2003?
Cheers,
Steve

It is up to each manufacturer to release the WM OS for its models. Unlike desktop Windows (which comes with a pretty wide selection of hardware drivers) each WM ROM contains only the drivers needed for a particular model's hardware. There is quite a variety running around so you should only try to install a ROM image released for your model. Trying to install one made for a different PPC is a good way to end up with a very attractive brick. So, if HP has not released WM2003 for yours, you can't get there, even if your ROM space is large enough to accomodate the newer OS.

As for specific information, your iPAQ 3635 can only upgrade to ppc 2002, it is not possible to upgrade to higher OS. There are however ROM and driver upgrades within ppc2002 os provided by HP

As long as you are upgrading things, you may consider doing the ROM upgrade as well.
