Upgraded OS from 98SE to XP, now can't Hotsync?

I was using my 3600 with the 98SE OS with no problems at all. Recently, I upgraded to XP and now I can't seem to Hotsync the 3600. When I attempt to Hotsync the computer rings 3 low level beeps, but nothing happens. The 3600 then displays that there is a problem with the connection. I ran the setup disk and tried the "modify" mode, to no avail. I uninstalled the Palm Desktop software, then reloaded again to no avail. Has anyone experienced this proglem? Does anyone have a solution?
