I just bought the snapntype mini keyboard for the ipaq 3950-it works great except for one thing-it uses the comm port to communicate. I need a mini keyboard like this that allows the plug in at the bottom (need to use gps input).
Does anyone know of a mini keyboard that allows this?-Does the compaq made one?
Thanks.

Right now I don't think there's such solution. Some Canadian company is planing on releasing Bluetooth keyboard but you're out of luck since you did not invest in Bluetooth iPaq (sarcastic remark.....only as a joke)...you can alway go with the BT expansion pack....gash - i drifted away...back to keyboards. There's also a keyboard that uses IR port. Honestly I do not know how that would work since IR port uses COM port to communicate and so does BT. I don't know though which ports IR use. BT uses port COM 8 / 9.
Do search on Google for Bluetooth PDA keyboard.

P.S. I know it's not a snap-on keyboard but for the time being that mey be the only option.

Thanks for the answer. I actually am using the unit in an airplane for navigation with a gps and just was hoping I could get a keyboard that wouldn't use comm 1 (the gps uses it) that would be usable in an airplane with turbulence. The wireless keyboard probably would not work out. I like the slide on keyboards but as they disable comm 1 they are useless for me right now as they disable comm 1 that the gps uses. I am not sure the bluetooth would solve anything either for the use I need-but I am new to this!
Anyway-thanks for the info-I will investigate.

You could always use an adapter for your GPS interface, although for Bluetooth you may have to spend a bit more. here's a useful guide: http://www.pickyguide.com/computers_and_software/mini_keyboards_guide.html
