I just got the Tungsten. I had the Palm 515 and went with OS 9 so I could do Avantgo. I initially just put the Tungsten in the old cradle since it fits. I pushed the synch button and I got a prompt on screen saying that I didn't have the drive for this usb device. I installed Palm desktop for OS X and still nothing. Anybody know how I can synch up my new Tungten with my dual 867 G4 Mac?
Hello sarantis,
I just upgraded from a 515 to the Tungsten (And am loving it !) and here is what I did :
I unplugged the USB craddle from the usb port then :
WITHOUT deleting the previous software, I installed the PalmDesktop software from the Tungsten disk (although I think it's the same : V4.0 for OS X 10.1.5)
re-plugged the USB craddle
HotSynched, the software asked me to choose a profile, I chose the same as my 515, and it worked !
Important : Are you using a USB hub ?? If yes, I had some trouble with that, so I plugged my craddle directly on the computer...
Good luck !

Well I think my problem may be that I bought the Franklin Covey version of the Tungsten. Wouldn't you know it but the cd's enclosed were PC only. So I was wondering if there was some special USB driver that the normal disks install. Couldn't read anything on the PC disks. I am using the usb direct link to my computer, no hub. Do you know if there's a special USB driver on your disk maybe for Palm OS 5 or something? Otherwise, my Tungsten is useless to me.
Thanks in advance
I don'tt think there are any new os5 drivers on the disk.
Before you write your tungsten off (that would really be too bad), try to download again a "fresh" version of PalmDasktop 4 for Mac os X, reinstall it on top of the other, replug your craddle directly to the mac (Not to a usb hub) and sync, it should work !!!
