I want to relay a very strange thing that happened to me yesterday--none of my Datebook or alarm clock alarms sent out any audible tones whatsoever, even though the vibrating function continued to work. Well, I checked EVERYTHING, or so I thought--all voice files were checked, all audio levels were checked, I replaced all of the voice/audio files using my backup and I even did every type of reset that exists, but to no avail!! All of a sudden, a new alarm that I set later in the day DID trigger the audio portion of the alarm, but when I set the next one it again was taciturn!! Well, to cut to the chase, this is what I have figured out:
My iQue 3600 resides in an EB case, which is a full leather case with pockets in the flap (which has a magnetic closure). I keep two spare SD cards in the pocket, held together with a rubber band. Just by accident, I had the flap open later when an alarm went off and it sounded and felt normal. After a bit of experimentation, I concluded that the position of these SD cards relative to the magnet in the flap apparently created an intermittent inductive circuit that was muting the audio!! I resolved the problem by eliminating the rubber band and positioning the two SD cards side-by-side in the pocket instead of one on top of the other!! Don't ask me how or why, but since then all of the alarms have the correct audio output--no problems whatsoever!!!...and to think of all the time, trouble, sweat and heart-stopping crap I went through!!! I'm just glad that I figured this out before I panicked and sent it to Olathe, where the techies would probably have found NOTHING wrong with my unit and would have had a great time at the water cooler talking about the nut in Ohio who is (NOT) hearing things!!! LOL!!!!!
