I need more RAM on my HE330

I have had my HE330 for a year now. I love this machine. Problem is I am maxing out on RAM. I have a 128MB CF Card. but somethings need to run from RAM and I have less than 1MB left.
Is there any news about a new HE with perhaps at least 16MB RAM, and maybe color??????

I don't have an HE, but something I did with my 505 when I ran short on memory was to copy the programs I use least to the card and use that as storage. Then if I need to use the program I would copy it back to RAM, do what I needed to do and then store it back on the memory card. Granted it took a few seconds longer to work that way but left more RAM available for programs I used often.

The rumor is that Handera is not putting out a color model. Someone had a picture of a color prototype, but that's as far as it got.

I believe the rumor would be that they are not putting out that particular color model. That doesn't mean that "HandEra is not putting out a color model".

:confused: The advantage of the HE is expansion slots for both secure digital and compact flash. The problem of running out of memory on your CF card is easily solved by getting a higher capacity card. CF cards are now at 500 meg and I believe that SD are at 256megs. Presuming you are using Autocard + any other program to access expansion memory, you should be in fat city.

The prices at newegg.com are usually pretty good and check the HE for compatibility

I work with large HandBase files and a large number of QuickSheet/Excel files and they all need to keep in sync. As a result I am a big fan of having 16mg of RAM. I would upgrade.

Why don't you try AutoCF (freeware), AutoCard (freeware) or PiDirect II (shareware)?
I had a HE330 and put programs and databases that more than 100KB in my 128MB CF card --- and it worked stably!
If I put all the programs and databases in RAM, I got just about 200KB of free RAM space. But now I got 3000KB of free RAM space on my HE330.

I recently had to return a Handera with a defective silk screen after 16 months of flawless daily service. I asked about the question of color as well as ARM chip implimentation. I was told my customer service that there is no plan to release a color unit this year. This of course means that there will be no units with strongARM chips. Since the Palm OS 5.0 OS is written largely to take advantage of this new processing power, I assume there will be no intention on the part of Handera to up grade the curren 3.5x OS.

This will kill Handera. The flood of PDAs with 206 MHz speed and greater expansion as well as SD capacity in excess of 256meg will render our beloved units antiques in less than a year.
