Betty's Not Speaking To Me

I just aquired a iQue 3600. Everything is working fine, but Betty isn't talking. I tried reinstalling the voice software, but it didn't fix it. The volume is turned on, and under the preferences for Guidance, I have the voice option turned on for guidance and status. How can I get Betty to talk?
