I seem to have the same problems like angela, but it doesn't resolve itself.
On my home PC contacts synchronisation works fine, on the PC at work it doesn't. So I supposed the problem was Psiwin or Pc related, and not related to the psion. Since we rolled out new PC's I thought the problem would resolve itself. It didn't with a new PC, new software, a fresch psiwin installation it still says "the synch. didn't finish normally".
Needless to say I tried : soft reset, deleting contacts.cdb and synching from start etc...

I once had the problem with outlook agenda and it seemed to be a corrupt agenda entry in outlook. While limiting synching range I could figure out where the entry was and replace it with a new entry. I started to do this with the contacts (1200 of them !) but found problems on several places.

Can anyone help, maybe how to clean up corrupt contact entries in outlook?

thanks

There is an icon on my PC calle "Inbox Repair Tool" which is used to scan and fix Outlook data.

On my PC and Outlook the file is called 'scanpst.exe'. Try that to clean up the database.

Tried about everything I found : inbox repair tool, detect and repair, exporting and re-importing files on both psion and outlook, deleting all contacts and re-synching from start. Seems nothing helps.
Anyone having other ideas, I will be glad to hear from them !

My first question is whether you are sure this is a problem with the contacts portion of the synchronisation. Have you created individual synchronisation tasks to establish this? As a last resort, why not put you home PC's Contacts from Outlook onto a floppy disk (export them from Outlook) and then import them into a new Contacts folder on your work PC. See if you can synchronise to this folder. If it all goes well you could simply wipe out and replace your work Outlook Contacts with a copy of the Contacts from your home PC.

Thanks for reacting. Yes I have set up separate tasks, so it is the contacts which are causing problems.
I have done as you say, and the problem is still the same. I'm wondering if it isn't due to the psiwin installation. I'll try and reinstall it.

I am not sure that a re-installation will change anything but it is worth a go. One possible cause might be that a Contacts entry contains a field that Outlook does not and therefore PsiWin will report an error. Do you, for example, have a contact with five email addresses?

I've tried reinstalling psiwin, even downloaded 2.3.3. version. Still won't work, on the contrary, now it doesn't want to synchronize my outlook agenda.
I don't have any special fields filled in, moreover it works fine for both agenda and data on my home PC.
at work we are working with windows 2000 and office xp. Could that be a source of problems, do I need upgrades?

It could be the XP part ... What version of Outlook do you use at home? I run Windows 2000 with Office 2000 and all is fine.

I use windows 98 and office 2000 at home.
At work I installed Psiwin 2.3.3. which should be compatible with Xp according to Psion.Com.
By the way this morning agenda synchs fine again, contacts still doesn't.
