Is HP or Dell coming out with any new models soon that I should wait for? I really don't care about the cost.. I just want the biggest screen, most memory, and fastest pda I can get. I am going to be mainly using it for in car gps navigation and I need bluetooth to hook up to my bluetooth gps unit.

what would you guys recommend and what is the best possible price you can get the unit for?

Thanks

I don't have any information of any new upcoming models from HP or Dell.
As for current models. There is not 1 single model that can satisfy "biggest screen, most memory, and fastest pda".
iPAQ HX4700 has the biggest screen, follow by Dell Axim x50v. The fastest model with largest memory is iPAQ hx2750 but it has 3.5" non-vga screen.
Many users here use both hx4700 and x50v with their bluetooth gps with success. The site like Pricegrabber should give and some idea of what the lowest price for HP are. Dell own site is usually the cheapest for Axim (with deals and coupons which you can find on the deal/coupon sites).

what's about the cheapest you can get each for?

what one has better readability in bright sunlight as I will be using it in a car and flying a plane quite often...

and how is that touchpad thing on the 4700 compared to the 4way button on the axim?

The worst of it is, there's always something better round the corner!

I think you have to decide what's the thing you not prepared to comprimse over and make your choice from there. For me it was screen quality/size, so I got a hx4700...I use it a lot for word processing and needed as much screen "real estate" as poss..

You may want speed/memory....so it's the hx2750

You may want ease of use and every feature in the world.....wait for a HP IPAQ hw6515 which has a keyboard, GPS, GPRS, the lot!

Also, the Palm and Symbian have a lot to offer too. What the may lack in power, they more than make up for in sheer usability terms, which can be much more important in the long run...

It's so much easeir to bang appoimntmets into my TREO 600 than my IPAQ....my old Psion Netbook was signifcantly quicker to use (32 bit multi-tasking meant all appications could be open, silkscreen icons for fast switching, every tas with a keybard shortcut). Neither have the sheer computing power/connectivity of the IPAQ though...

Depends what you need the thing to do...

being this is mainly going to be used in the car for gps moving map display.. one of the most important factors is the readability in bright sunlight... I have seen some pdas before that just totally wash out in sunlight and are unreadable... if the displays are all not that great in bright sunlight then I will just buy a standalone gps unit like the Lowrance iWay 500c that gets the job done..
