Every time I try to install my previous palm programs my desktop will not allow me to put them in the install tool. When I try I always get the message " File ------ already exists in download directory". I'm not sure what this means or how to get these programs back in my palm during a hotsinc. I can see them in my backup file but unable to transfer them to the install tool. I have just upgraded from o/S 3.1 to 3.3. I am thinking of reverting back to 3.1 if I can find out how. What a mess ,HELP

DJ,
I must admit I am finding your post a bit difficult to understand but I am going to share with you what I think will be most helpful.
It sounds like you have some how gotten more than one "install" directory. If you go to the Windows Explorer and look in the following folders "Palm\hotsync ID\Install" your files to load should be there. Apps that are in the "Backup" folder will also load if you did the hot sync right after the upgrade on your Palm. If you used the Palm after the upgrade and before the hotsync you may have confused the HotSync Manager. If it was confused it may have tried to SYNC and not backup. If that happens you may have lost data in your backup directory. Most should now be in the Archived folder.
Also check around to see if there is another "install" folder on your PC. Sometimes the newer Desktop install uses the Programs\Palm\hotsync ID\Install. The older route was simply starting with Palm and not in Programs.

Thanks for the tips. I finally got it to work after I reinstalled my old desktop software. Maybe that fixed the problem you were talking about. It is working now so I should just do the snart thing and not screw with it.
Thanks
