deleting progrma in startup folder

i have a program in the startup folder I want to delete
however, since it is running It will not delete
how can it stop it from running or delete a running program?

You can just close the program (if you don't have 3rd party task manager then go to Start - System tab - Memory - Running Programs tab), then delete it from the Startup folder.
