Hi Folks, I've just bought the misses a 515 for xmas and have a question regarding our home PC configuration.

At work, I happily use my Palm with Microsoft Outlook using the Pocket Mirror conduits. This sync's my Contacts, Calendar, ToDo's, Notes, etc.

However, at home we only have Microsoft Outlook Express. I believe that Pocket Mirror will happily use the email conduit but that sync'ing Contacts, etc will not be possible.

With the standard Palm softwre, the only option as far as I see it is that Outlook Express is used for email and the Palm Desktop for Contacts, Calendar, ToDo's, etc. In practice I can see that this isn't going to be very sweet as the data isn't directly integrated as it is with full the Outlook application.

Has anyone found a viable alternative setup for home pda use? Did you buy different conduit software? Use alternative Palm software? or end up using different PC software?

Am I missing the point or am I barking? (answers on a postcard...)

PS: I've searched previous Threads but cannot seem to get a suitable answer...

Your best solution would be to find a copy of OutLook for the home PC. As you suggest the Palm desktop and Outlook are not the same. Try Ebay.
The Palm software offers to set up the email link to Outlook Expess, you do not need the Pocket Mirror conduit. Look in the Palm Applications Folder on the PC and you will be offered the Set up for the email.

Thanx Doc.

I've installed Outlook on our home PC but I was unable to get it to access our hotmail accounts. Outlook Express uses a different configuration and will happily send/receive hotmail mail. I managed to configure the Address Book/Contact list to be shared between the applications but I didn't know that Outlook can 'link' mail to Express. How is this done?

We've found that a couple of 3rd party plug-ins are available for Outlook that will enable us to use our Hotmail; IzyMail and Web2Pop both costing around $15-$20. Will try 'em and report back...

The hard part about HotMail is getting it intot he "InBox." Palm's mail conduit only looks in the first InBox folder. And Hotmail wants its own inbox. Check out the link.

A pal pointed me in the direction of Izzymail (formerly Pop3Hot) which allows the full blown Outlook to access your Hotmail, AOL, etc email, including send/receive. It costs around $20 for home use and compares favourably with other sware I've seen, plus it's really easy to configure.

Highly recommended if you use Outlook with your PDA and have Hotmail, AOL, etc.
