Hey again...

Does these pocket pcs come with windows OS installed?
And can the internet be accessed through IE as soon as you get one?
Email... Could you check email through free servers like yahoo? What about AOL?
Or are mutlimedia cards or other hardware needed for internet access?

Thank you for your help
:) Kimmi

I don't know anything about the wireless connecting...(reading and surfing)
If using the bluetooth... does the ppc connect to any regular desktop pc, or to anothe source with bluetooth?

I am interested in an ipaq for entertainment... music and videos.
So to get files transfered into an ppc you have to use your pc and send everything you want to watch, listen to the ppc?

Thanks

No, it's not the same desktop Windows OS, but Windows Mobile, similar name, somewhat similar user interface but quite different. For more information;

That depends on what model you buy, where do you want to connect to the internet, what type of network connection or cellular service you have.

Once you connect to the internet then you can use Yahoo's mail. You may need additional software for AOL.

Mutimedia cards are for storage and have nothing to do with internet connection. Again you may need additional hardware depending on the model you buy.

Bluetooth will let you connect to bluetooth capable desktop and/or other bluetooth devices such as cell phone.

You can copy files from desktop to ppc when you put it in the cradle, you can copy files from desktop to storage card via card reader and take the storage card and put in the ppc.
If you can wifi network, you may be able to stream files from desktop.

Do you know of any ppc that you can connect through a cable connection. I connect by cable to the internet.
Do you have to pay extra money also, to access the internet on ppc?

One way to do that is to add wifi router/access point to your network. And any ppc with wifi capability should be able to access internet from cable connection within the range about 150 feet of the access point.

You can also access internet while the ppc is in the cradle connecting to the desktop that has internet connection. There is a passthrough function in ppc's sync software. You wil not need to have addtional software or hardware, but the ppc will need to stay in the cradle.

http://www.mobiletechreview.com/ppc.htm - Thanks for the link Dude.
A PPC runs the Windows Mobile 2003 operating system (built on Windows CE and .NET) - So is Win CE dead ? Taken over by 2003 Mobile ? Where will one find CE running now ? I heard long ago in BBC that it was used on Tablet PCs / PDAs etc ?

No, Windows CE is the name of the operating system. Pocketpc or Windows Mobile is the name of the product (the whole package) which includes OS, user interface, applications, etc. The current Windows Moblie 2003 SE is running Windows CE 4.2, for more information;
