Here's hoping someone can help.

My 4150 wouldn't switch on today, it is about 15 months old, it worked fine yesterday.

I have tried (several) soft resets, reseated the battery (which is fully charged).

When I press the 'on' switch, not much happens, sometimes it appears that there is a soft backlight, other times nothing, and sometimes by pressing the application buttons I get a bar-code type display with vertical black lines, which sometimes change to a grey or blue screen.

When I try to hotsync from the cradle, the device is seen and i can explore the device from the laptop, albeit there seems to be data missing from the internal store, the flash card is fine.

Initially I was thinking it may be a battery problem but it would now appear more motherboard or screen related.

Your thoughts would be most welcome!

I think you are right about it's being either board or screen problem, you may want to do a hard reset and if that does not work and the unit is still under warranty call HP and they should repair it for you. Otherwise there are companies that offer repair services.

Thanks for that - I have also done a hard reset with no joy. The repairers you mention are US based, do they accept UK machines for repair or can anyone point me in an appropriate direction for a more local repairer.

Thanks again
