I am new to all this, so forgive me if I commit any blunders.
I have a Psion 5mx and Ericsson T39m mobile phone on Orange. They connect fine for emails using GSM, at home and in Europe. However, I want to set them up for GPRS to avoid calling my ISP in the UK when abroad. I have got the setting instructions from the Psion website, and followed them to the letter. The phone will now connect through using IR from my laptop PC, but not from the Psion. It connects to the phone, appears to log on to GPRS, but always comes up with the error "Problem connecting to remote mailbox. Timed out". This is to the same mailbox as the laptop connects to fine! Orange on 156 have been most helpful, and we have tried many other settings, none work.
Can anyone help?

Orange on 156 have been most helpful Orange on 156 are very helpful and do actually seem to know what they are talking about with regard to platforms other than PCs.
Firstly, I would urge you to use "The Dialer" to establish your connections, even if it is only until you get GPRS sorted out. This is my standard 'blurb' about it:
You might find it useful to install John McAleely's
little program "The Dialer". This lets you connect
to the internet independently from any particular
application, a bit like Dial Up Networking on a PC.
It will also confirm that a connection has been
established before trying to use an internet
application such as Web, Email, Opera, RMRNews etc.
One thing though if you do decide to use it, make
sure that in "Control Panel / Internet" you have a
time entered in the box "On exit, stay online for..."
which is sufficient to allow you to open an internet
application (or in the case of Email, open a mailbox),
otherwise the connection will drop immediately.
The Dialer can be downloaded from the "Series 5(mx)"
page of my website or there is a link to John's site
for more information.
Try these settings:

In my phone's settings, I set the alias for Access Point 1 to orangeinternet which is the same as the string in the Data field of "Control Panel / Modems". I am however using a Nokia 6310 which might be slightly different to setup than your Ericsson.
