removing the little loop

Has anyone figured out how to take apart a T615 and remove that little metal loop that sticks out above the jog dial? I would never carry a pda by a wrist strap and it just drives me nuts that that little loop sticks out there.

Here are some pics of the T615 disassembled. Pic #2 shows the lanyard loop. Looks like that sucker is rivited in place pretty tightly!
